Camp Kanga is situated close to Lake Proserpine 21km from Proserpine in North Queensland, Australia and is an approximate 45 minute drive from Airlie Beach, Shute Harbour and the Whitsunday Islands. Lake Proserpine activities include, barramundi fishing,  water skiing and canoeing.<\/p>\n

Managed by Lions District 201Q2, Camp Kanga offers endless fun and activities for groups, school camps, community camps, holidaymakers and fishermen. Set on 4.7 hectares of natural bushland that attracts a wide variety of flora and fauna it is also an important habitat of the Proserpine Rock Wallaby.<\/p>\n

Camp facilities include a large commercial kitchen, BBQ Area, meeting hall, accommodation rooms with wheelchair access, indoor and outdoor recreation facilities. Our on-site mangers, are available at all times to ensure your camp runs smoothly.<\/p>\n

Camp Kanga offers a tranquil bush setting with peace and quiet not far from Lake Proserpine and the Proserpine River. At your campsite and set around the park you are welcome to sit and enjoy a small campfire, watch the native wildlife. Can even feed a Wallaby or maybe spot a platypus at the river.<\/p>\n

Kris and Helena Walker with their 2 daughters are welcoming hosts. Both there to assist you with your holiday. They can assist you with their knowledge of the area as well as the near by Whitsundays. They can assist you with tours of the area such as Whitehaven beach and the Great Barrier Reef. Kris and Helena love the outdoors both being sports loving people and being involved in their community.<\/p>\n

Camp Kanga is an ideal location to Lake Proserpine (Peter Faust Dam) to fish for the giant barra, go for bush walks or just relax in a tranquil bush location.<\/p>\n

The camp was built from dongas that were used as workers quarters while the Peter Faust Dam was being built.<\/p>\n

Officially opened on the 10th October 1992, by the Hon. Ed Casey, Minister for Primary Industries. Camp Kanga is a non-for profit organisation run mainly by volunteers.<\/p>\n
