Lions Camp Kanga Is a non-profit making recreational camp owned and operated by 70 Lions Clubs of North Queensland. The primary role of the camp is to provide the necessary facilities for schools, groups and the private sector to assist in fulfilling the curriculum or other goals in a healthy, safe, outdoor or indoor environment. The natural environment of the camp’s location is the beautiful ever-flowing Proserpine River set amongst the rugged picturesque landscape of the scenic rim of Lake Proserpine at the Peter Faust Dam. Lions Camp Kanga is a quiet secluded campsite only 24km west of Proserpine and approximately 45 minutes bus travel from Airlie Beach, Shute Harbour and the Whitsunday Islands. Nestled away in its bush land setting near Lake Proserpine, Camp Kanga is the ideal location to enjoy the beauty of the Whitsundays Camp Kanga is a whole different world, away from city noises & lights, with fresh air, sports areas, fresh water swimming year round, fishing and canoeing, barbeques and campfires. The campsite covers an area of 4.7 hectares and attracts a large variety of bird species and native fauna. The area is an important part of the habitat of the Proserpine Rock Wallaby that live among outcrops in the deciduous vine forests in the adjacent bushland. Operating 7 days a week, 52 weeks in the year, Camp Kanga can comfortably accommodate 150 people. Camp inspections are welcome prior to booking. Please contact the managers to arrange for a suitable time.
